When the new ropeway is operational, this travel time will be reduced to a mere 20 minutes, providing tourists as well as locals with a quick, scenic, and environmentally friendly mode of transport. The ropeway would run a length of 5,580 meters and link Purkul Gaon in Dehradun to the Library area in Mussoorie. The system would cater to 1,000 passengers in both directions per hour, not only decongesting roads but also offering a pleasurable journey experience over the green landscape of the Shivalik hills. Economic & Employment Boost- Apart from transportation, the ropeway will have a chain effect on the regional economy. The project will give direct employment to an estimated 350 people and indirect employment to close to 1,500 individuals, stimulating hospitality, transport, retail, and other allied industries. Investment & Timeline- The cost of the project has been pegged at ₹285 crores, showing the proportions and importance of this infrastructure development. The ropeway will be up and running in full swing by September 2026, ushering in a new phase of advanced mobility and eco-friendly tourism in Uttarakhand.
